“In a dream within a dream”

Howard BurhamWritten and performed by Howard Burnham.

Wednesday 28th July, 7.00pm in Hamsterley Village Hall.

We present professional actor Howard Burnham in his acclaimed characterisation of the Reverend Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, better known as Lewis Caroll.

On the 28th, you can spend an enchanting evening in the company of Lewis Carroll, the author of ‘Alice in Wonderland’ and ‘Through the Looking Glass.’  The performance is given by Howard Burnham, a professional actor now living in the USA, who returns to Britain most summers and has regularly performed at the Helmsley and Ryedale Festivals.  He brings Lewis Carroll (or Charles Lutwidge Dodgson) brilliantly to life, in a performance that is both joyful and poignant, depicting a man of great wit, sensitivity and charm.

‘In a Dream within a Dream’ tells the story of how a stuffy Oxford mathematician and gifted pioneer photographer created a childhood classic ‘all in a golden afternoon’ on a boating trip with a college colleague and the three Liddell sisters.  You are assured of a delightful evening – and in true Mat Hatter Tea Party style we shall of course drink tea (or coffee) and eat jam tarts!  Indeed, you are welcome to wear mad hats, if you like…

The performance takes place in Hamsterley Village Hall at 7.00pm on Wednesday 28th July.  Tickets cost £5.00 per person, refreshments included.  They can be reserved in advance and paid for on the night – but please do let us know if you are planning to come, as there is a limit on numbers.  To reserve your tickets, kindly ring Caroline Peacock on 01388 488305.
