Hamsterley Parish Council – Minutes of meeting held on Monday 10th September 2012

Parish Council1.              Present: Jane Bee (Chairman), Mark Coatsworth, Sue Heslop, Richard Hughes, Jonathan Peacock, Caroline Peacock (clerk)

2.            Apologies:  Stephen Hugill

3.            Approval of previous Minutes: RH, JP

4.            Matters arising:

a)            Village Pond – cleaning of culvert under road opposite Three Oaks. CP will continue to press DCC for this to be done.

b)            Survey and care of trees on Village Green.  JP had received an excellent tree survey report from Roger Lowe, indicating that there are no trees currently giving cause for concern.

c)            Seat in bus shelter (CP).  A renewed request has been made to DCC.

7.              New Business:

a)              The County Durham Plan (Teesdale sections still under discussion until 02/11/12).  It was agreed that Councillors would make personal representations if they wished but there was no major issue affecting Hamsterley on which the Council as a whole felt the need to comment.

b)              Teesdale Action Partnership.  CP reported that within the TAP there were concerns about a considerable reduction in land earmarked for commercial development in Teesdale, about the need for broadband access in all parts of Teesdale including those currently not reached, and about the need to protect Teesdale’s exceptional landscape not only within but also outside the North Pennines AONB, given the area’s particular dependence on the tourism economy.  All these issues were being fed back to the centre for incorporation in the County Durham Plan.

Date of next meeting:            Monday 12th November 2012
