Hamsterley WI – Report of AGM held on 8th October 2013

WI LogoPat Welsh, Vice-President, opened the Annual General Meeting.

Members who had visited the Garden at Woodside House, Witton Park had enjoyed it.

Blank Cards for the Christmas Card Competition for November’s Meeting can be obtained from Joan McDowall.  Otherwise any blank card of any size can be used and decorated in any media.

Sue Davies has submitted a knitted waistcoat for the competition at the Group Meeting to be held at Witton-le-Wear on Monday, 21 October 2013.

The “Ladies Who Lunch” Group will eat at the Cross Keys, Hamsterley at 12.30pm on Wednesday, 23 October 2013.  Anne Walshaw is the contact.

Looking ahead to the 2014 National AGM, to be held in Leeds, it will be Hamsterley WI’s turn to send a delegate.

The Treasurer and The Secretary both gave their reports.

Joan McDowall was welcomed onto the Committee.  All other members of the committee will remain.

The Guest was Audrey Flannigan who gave us a talk on previous WI Resolutions which have improved the health and welfare of the British people.
She urged all members to fill in the Resolution form in November’s issue of WI Life.
We really can make a difference.

Audrey Flannigan supervised the Election of Officers.  Janet Embleton was elected President for the coming year.

The Victoria Sponge competition was won by: (1) Pat Welsh
(2) Joan McDowall (3) Marie Thompson.  The raffle was won by Dianne Horn.

The next meeting will take place on Tuesday, 12 November 2013 at 1.30pm.
The Guest Speaker will be Jill Green on “Fun with Colour”.  There will be a craft and produce stall.  Visitors are very welcome.
