Margaret Howe writes:

“I have found that my Great Grandfather, Thomas Jolly, was born in Hamsterley in 1827, I always wondered why my grandparents came to Hamsterley. Now I want to know where he was born? I know they had connections to Witton and Howden Le Wear. Perhaps his mother Alice (nee Hutchinson) had some relative in the village?”

Roger replies:

“Hi Margaret, I have found that your Jolley was actually born 1848 in Hamsterley by looking at the Family Search site on page 347. John his father was a labourer then and people like this when around the area looking for work wherever they could find it. So it looks as if John was living and working in Hamsterley then.”

Margaret Howe replies:

“Thank you so much. I believe you have been in touch with my brother we are so pleased to hear from you and so interested in your information. Keep it coming!”
