Historic Hamsterley

250 people visited the Historic Hamsterley event in the Village Hall on Saturday 13 August.

There was a real buzz about the place as people took in the pictures and exhibits, eagerly reserved their seats for the five minute talks, and relaxed in the cafe as they reminisced with friends and long lost relatives about people and places they had known over the years.

Here are some photographs from the Historic Hamsterley event – 13th August 2011.

Just a brief thankyou for extending an invitation to the history day to me and my fellow “Blacketteers” Pat Longbottom and Martin Blackett. It was a wonderful day and a pleasure to meet so many nice people, including several with whom we’d corresponded in the past. We’re particularly grateful to those kind folks who invited us on Sunday to see the former Blackett properties which they now own. We’ve acquired lots of additional material which will help us to improve http://www.theblacketts.com

    Congratulations on a brilliant event!

Fantastic ! What a response from the people of Hamsterley and South Bedburn who came to support this event and how amazing that so many others travelled from afar to join in celebrating the heritage of the area. Thanks to everyone who helped in advance and on the day to make the occasion such an enjoyable one for all who came. And thanks from Hamsterley Methodist Church Council for the £1200 raised for the refurbishment project.
