Hamsterley is pleasantly situated a low ridge between Teesdale and Weardale seven miles from Bishop Auckland. The village has a rural aspect and is close to the impressive Hamsterley Forest with its four mile forest drive, orienteering course and forest and riverside walks.
Follow the A688 from Barnard Castle to West Auckland. At West Auckland turn left on to the A68. Follow the road through High Etherley and Toft Hill and follow local signs to Hamsterley.
